HA HANDARM

About & disclaimer

Handarm helps construction operatives and supervisors estimate daily hand–arm vibration exposure points, look up tool declarations and prepare a daily sign-off sheet.

Guidance, not a risk assessment

This calculator is a guidance tool and is not a substitute for a suitable and sufficient formal risk assessment under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005. Employers remain responsible for assessing, controlling and reviewing vibration risks, including selecting representative exposure data and arranging health surveillance where required.

A result or signed report does not certify legal compliance or that work is safe. Handarm is not an HSE service and does not diagnose HAVS. Read HSE’s vibration risk assessment guidance.

Check the equipment and working conditions

Manufacturer declarations are test results and can differ from workplace exposure. Match the exact tool, working mode, accessory and source revision. The catalogue is incomplete and may contain errors; current UK availability and discontinued status are not always verified. Confirm values against the source and your employer’s assessment. Missing data must not be treated as zero.

Points are calculated from the magnitude and trigger time you enter. Starting estimates and displayed thresholds do not replace measures to reduce exposure. Report a suspected error before relying on a disputed figure.

Daily reports

Reports summarise the entered tools and times for one operative on one working day. Review the tool breakdown before signing. Drafts stay in the browser; print or save a PDF for your records.
